Scholarship Opportunities
The IEEE EMC Society has the following scholarship and grant opportunities.
EMC+SIPI Student Hardware Competition
Sponsored by the Education Committee (EdCom) of the IEEE EMC Society, the 2025 contest featured radio direction finding which is an important aspect of EMC engineering needed to locate a sources of interference. The interference could be noise such as that generated by a failed power line device or the intended or spurious emissions from a communications system. On complex platforms it is essential that RF energy utilized in one area does not result in a response from unrelated areas. This contest required a means to identify three different signals that are so close in frequency that their modulated bandwidths overlap and can each be tracked to its location in the exhibit hall.
IEEE James C. Klouda Memorial Scholarship Award
The IEEE James C. Klouda Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of James C. Klouda and his professional career in the field of electromagnetic compatibility. The Scholarship Fund awards, on an annual basis, a scholarship to a qualified undergraduate student or graduate student who seeks an electrical engineering degree with emphasis in the field of electromagnetic compatibility or a related discipline, from an accredited US university or college.
Prize: $1000 Scholarship & EMCS student membership for one year
IEEE EMC Society-Chicago Chapter Scholarship
The Chicago Chapter of the IEEE EMC Society has established a college scholarship program with scholarships to be awarded to an undergraduate or a graduate college student.
The John Howard Memorial EMC Education Grant
The John Howard Memorial EMC Education Grant supports non-profit activities that improve educational opportunities in EMC.
